So, let’s shift gears here. To more important things. Like grilled cheese. There is a gourmet market near where I live called Sickles. Almost every day, they have small samples of something yummy to try: baked goods, cheese, meatballs, paninis, etc. A few days ago, the offering was this grilled cheese. I bought the ingredients and decided to make it at home. It was truly droolworthy! My version is slightly different than theirs, but I will include, in parenthesis, what was in their recipe.
Pear and Fig Jam Grilled Cheese
Ingredients
2 tsp Hellmans mayo (they used unsalted butter, either is great, but the mayo doesn’t burn as quickly and gives a beautiful crispness outside)
1 Tbsp fig or currant jam
2 slices of whatever bread makes you happy, I use a multigrain
2 slices muenster (they used cheddar)
1/4 small pear, thinly sliced
(they also added 2 slices of cooked bacon, I left the bacon off)
Directions:
To assemble, spread the jam on 1 slice of bread, then top with cheese and pear. Cover with other slice. Spread a teaspoon of mayo on the outside of one side, place in pan and cover. Cook, on medium, until golden brown. Then flip sandwich over and repeat with other side. If you’re a grilled cheese lover, this will definitely float your boat. Enjoy!
Thanks, Amy!
I can personally attest to the yum-factor!
It’s amazing, Jane! Can’t wait for you to try it!
