Just in time to kick off the 2016 MLB season and Father’s Day, Pillbox Bat Co. has launched! Based in Winona, Minnesota, the Pillbox Bat Company makes solid maple baseball bats with hand-painted or hand-burned retro graphics. Founders Zak Fellman and Dan Watson played little league baseball together two decades ago where they actually created their first bat out of a tree limb painted with house paint. Little did they know what was to come. The name comes from the old Downtown Park in St. Paul, MN. that was so small, it was nicknamed the “Pillbox.” Only hits over center field were considered home runs, hits over right and left field fences were recognized as doubles. Most of their bats are sturdy enough for casual games (a few models are not recommended for game use), but all are attractive enough to display on a wall. Call me crazy, but I think these bats are beautiful!
